Frederick, Md (KM) It’s a chance for residents to do their part for the environment. As part of a collaboration between the Frederick County Divisions of Energy and the Environment and Solid Waste and Recycling, rain barrels and compost bins will be on sale. for a limited time.
These items can be purchased on line. . All orders will be processed by the manufacturer with no sales tax or shipping fees. Frederick County says it does not collect any proceeds or provide refunds for unclaimed items.
Customers can pick up their products at the Recycling Drop Off Center at 9031 Reichs Ford Road on Saturday, June 28th between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
The County says the rain barrels and compost bins support its goals of protecting waterways, conserving resources, addressing the cause of climate change and diverting waste from landfills. Rain barrels can collect rooftop runoff for later use in gardens, landscaping or car washing, and that helps reduce water bills, prevent soil erosion and stormwater runoff.
Compost bins, county officials say, reduce landfill waste and methane gas, and produce a nutrient rich soil amendment.
This offer is open to everyone, not just Frederick County residents.
