It’s part of Donate Life Month.
Frederick, Md (KM) April is National Donate Life Month, and the event will be honored with a flag raising ceremony at Frederick Health Hospital. It’s scheduled for Thursday, April 10th beginning at 11:00 AM
In addition to Frederick Health Hospital staff, Infinite Legacy will be on hand. It works with ten million people in the Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington DC area to facilitate eye, organ and tissue donations, and to educate people about the critical importance of being an organ donor. Infinite Legacy says it works with 68 hospitals and eight transplant centers to decrease the number of people waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
“There’s a critical need for organ donors as nearly 4,000 people in our region are waiting for a life3saving organ transplant,” says Kenny Ford, vice president and chief business development officer for Infinite Legacy, in a statement. “We are grateful to Frederick Health Hospital for their steadfast commitment to saving and healing lives through organ and tissue donations.”
Organizers say National Donate Life Month helps raise awareness of the decision to be an organ donor, and celebrates the lives of those who were saved by organ, tissue and eye donations.
“Being an organ donor means giving someone else the chance to continue their story,” says Angela Nasti, Registered Nurse and ICU Manager, and Frederick Health Hospital’s liaison with Infinite Legacy, in a statement. “By partnering with infinite Legacy Frederick Health is helping to change, save and celebrate life.”
