It happened on Thursday in the Tuscarora Knolls community.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a dog which scratched a child on Thursday.
The incident occurred at around 6:00 PM at the intersection Cameron Way and Mosby Drive in the Tuscarora Knolls community. . The scratch happened when the dog was chasing two children.
A woman in the area tried to find the dog’s owner by going door-to-door. It’s a medium-sized, chocolate lab-type dog.
If you know this dog’s whereabouts, you’re asked to contact Animal Control at 301-600-1644. Once the owner is contacted, the Health Department says Animal Control will need to determine if the dog is in good health ten days after the incident. If so, the child who was scratched will not need to undergo expensive rabies treatments.. If not, the parents will be advised to get the treatment for their child.
If someone you know or a pet has been bitten or scratched, call Animal Control at 301-600-1544. Get the owners name, address, and phone number. If the animal is wildlife, the Health Department says consult with your pet’s veterinarian, if applicable, and contact Environmental Health Services at 301-600-1717,
For those who have been exposed to an animal with rabies, or suspected of having rabies, call Community Health Services at 301-600-3342.
