Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Says Victim In Shooting In Urbana Last Month Was Not The Intended Target

But investigators say this does not appear to be a random shooting.

Frederick, Md (KM) A 16-year-old boy who was shot last month in Urbana was not the intended victim  . That’s according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office which says it’s still investigating this incident.

On Friday, August 9th, at around 10:22 PM,  deputies responded to the Urban Green Apartments in the 3300 block of Galena Drive for a shooting. They found the youth with gunshot wounds to the chest inside the clubhouse. Deputies administered first aid until medics arrived. The teenager was flown to a nearby trauma center where he’s still being treated for his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says witnesses told deputies that the suspect or the suspects entered the building, and began firing, and then fleeing from the scene.

Authorities say this does not appear to be a random act of violence, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

No suspect of suspects have been identified at this time.
