Clear Spring, Md (KM) An open house on a bridge rehabilitation project in Washington County has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16th. The Maryland State Highway Administration says it will take place at Clear Spring High School from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

SHA says it will cover the Route 40 bridge over Conococheague Creek near Wilson in western Washington County. The span was constructed in 1935, and is considered safe. But it needs rehabilitation to extend its service life.

Work is expected to begin in the spring of 2025, and be completed by the summer of 2027.

During the work, SHA says traffic flow cannot be maintained across the bridge. A section of Route 40 will be closed from June, 2025–starting just after the end of the school year—and continue through August, 2026.  A detour will be in  place during that time..

At the open house, there will be no formal presentation. But a project representative will be on hand to answer questions from the public, and listen to feedback.

Those arriving can come in at any time during the open house, and view maps and displays highlighting the project.
